In addition to the knowledge and experience that PGF has gained working closely with both the public sector and non-profit organizations in Canada, PGF has also developed an expertise internationally. PGF’s international mandates have included elements of governance, strategic and operational planning, risk management, program design and management, project design and financing requests, program monitoring and evaluation, organizational development, and communications.
PGF has found that its 20 years of consulting experience in Canada, as well as its understanding of the challenges and constraints of its international clients, is of great benefit to institutions and organizations in Africa, Eastern and Central Europe and the Middle East. PGF is able to utilize North American know-how to tailor an approach to the specific needs of each client. Some of PGF’s international clients include the Union Économique et Monétaire Ouest Africaine (UEMOA), the Comité permanent Inter-états de Lutte contre la Sécheresse dans le Sahel (CILSS), the Niger Basin Authority (NBA), and the Centre Régional pour l'Eau Potable et l'Assainissement à faible coût (CREPA), in addition to various public administrations in countries such as Romania, Iraq, Ukraine and Burkina Faso.
As a result of the firm’s exposure abroad, PGF has developed a large network of financial partners through regional and international organizations such as the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Development Bank (ADB), the Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement (BOAD), the European Commission, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ), among others. When required, PGF works collaboratively with these financial partners to help meet the needs of its clients. PGF has also organized and facilitated missions to Canada by delegations representing some of its international clients in order to help them increase awareness in Canada and establish important connections with Canadian government departments and other relevant organizations.
In addition to the ability to provide bilingual services, what makes PGF unique on the international stage is its ability to leverage its field knowledge and its familiarity with the environment to identify the needs of an organization and apply a results-based approach. PGF also understands the importance of reinforcing capacity for sustainable development and has supported various international organizations in the development and implementation of capacity building programs. These programs have required PGF to coach and accompany many senior members of regional organizations, to develop and deliver training programs, and to support the implementation of a variety of capacity building initiatives.
